OOC - Smithsonian Article on Shell-Shocked Soldiers in WWI

Thought some of you might find this article in the current (as in 2010) issue of the Smithsonian Magazine of interest.

Is it any wonder Bridgette wound up walking away from medicine for awhile?

  1. Medicine has done soldiers -- and others -- a great disservice by putting shell shock on the euphemism treadmill. "Post-traumatic stress disorder" is a namby-pamby mealy-mouthing of a horrible violation of the human psyche. George Carlin covered the issue fairly well, I think, and so does this article.
